The latest travel-related app for the iPhone is pretty impressive.  It is designed to be almost like a personalized tour guide in a selected amount of cities in Europe and North America.  The app is quite sophisticated and has a number of features that would help out any traveler in an unknown city.  While we at TravAddict still think you can't get a better experience than being shown around by a professional tour guide or a local, we think this app would be a great help for your free time on tour…..because all tour companies these days (especially the ones TravAddict feature) offer plenty of free time in all of the destinations they travel to.

The mTrip app will plan a day of sightseeing based on your level of interest in museums, monuments, parks or religious sights.  It will ensure it follows the guidelines of museum opening hours and plan your route via a map, also giving you details for any public transport you will need to take.  When you arrive at each of the sites you can use the camera on your iPhone to determine what you are looking at.  As you scan the area with your camera icons will pop up with suggested restaurants and their ratings, and information on any major sight you are looking at.  The app is $5.99USD per city and none of the features require an internet connection, but if you have one you can take a picture and send it as a postcard in real time via email or facebook to your friends.

The sophistication of the mTrip app appears too good to be true, so we are sending out a few TravAddict team members to test it out in next few weeks.  We will be sure to post what we think!  Stay tuned……
